Who should choose what?
An honest comparison: yes, sometimes the competitor is the better fit.
Choose OpenTable if…
- You have American guests who already book through OpenTable
- You run a high-end restaurant in a world-famous tourist city
- You accept 12-month auto-renewed contracts and variable fees
Choose Couverty if…
- Your guests are local (Google, Instagram, word of mouth)
- You want your guests to book with you, not on a marketplace
- You don't want to be tied to a 12-month contract or to fees added along the way
- You want local support in Switzerland

“I was tired of seeing Swiss restaurant owners lose their guests to an American marketplace that suggests three other restaurants with a free table. I have been working on Couverty full time since December 2025: a simple tool, with no commission on your covers, designed for French-speaking Switzerland.”

FAQQuestions about Couverty vs OpenTable
Everything you need to know before you switch
Yes: a subscription, a commission per cover on OpenTable.com bookings, and an extra 2% on no-shows and deposits since 2026. The calculator shows your exact case.OpenTable combines a monthly subscription ($149 to $499), a commission per cover ($1 to $1.50) only on bookings made through OpenTable.com, and since January 2026 a 2% service fee on no-show fees, deposits and prepaid experiences (not on standard bookings). For 400 covers a month on the Core plan, with ~40% through the network, that comes to about CHF 4’350 a year. Couverty's Gourmet plan, at CHF 69/month with no commission on your covers, comes to CHF 828 a year.
Export your guest list from OpenTable and send it to us. We import it. Allow 1 to 2 hours.OpenTable lets you export your guest list and booking history. Send the file to contact@couverty.ch and we import it. You replace the booking widget on your website and update your Google Business Profile. Check the end date of your OpenTable contract (12 months) and the notice period (30 days before renewal).
Partly. But your loyal guests will find you through Google and Instagram. And you stop paying commission on them.OpenTable brings traffic from its marketplace, especially in American cities. When you leave, you lose that specific traffic. But many of those guests are in fact people who were already looking for you on Google and came across OpenTable along the way. They will find you directly. For a restaurant in French-speaking Switzerland, OpenTable traffic is low.
It is difficult. You must cancel 30 days before the annual renewal date. Note the date: it is easy to miss.Standard OpenTable contracts run for 12 months with automatic renewal and 30 days' notice before the renewal date. If you miss the window, you are in for another 12 months. Put the date in your diary now. In the meantime, start Couverty (pay as you go from CHF 2.00 per booking, no commitment) to get to know it.
